Turkey-Avocado Lettuce Wrap

Ingredients (for 1 burger):

- 4 oz ground turkey (preferably organic, pasture-raised)

- 1/4 ripe avocado, sliced

- 1 tsp Dijon mustard

- 2 large lettuce leaves (iceberg, romaine, or butter lettuce)

- Salt and pepper to taste

- Optional: 1 slice of tomato, thinly sliced red onion

For the turkey patty seasoning:

- 1/4 tsp garlic powder

- 1/4 tsp onion powder

- Pinch of dried thyme

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, mix the ground turkey with garlic powder, onion powder, and thyme. Add a pinch of salt and pepper.

  2. Form the seasoned turkey into a patty, about 1/2 inch thick.

  3. Heat a non-stick skillet or grill pan over medium heat.

  4. Cook the turkey patty for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F or 74°C).

  5. While the patty is cooking, prepare your lettuce "bun" by selecting two large, sturdy lettuce leaves.

  6. Once the patty is cooked, let it rest for a minute.

  7. Assemble your burger: Place the turkey patty on one lettuce leaf, top with sliced avocado, and spread Dijon mustard on top. Add tomato and red onion if using.

  8. Cover with the second lettuce leaf.
